Silver Medal in the category « Reflections (Water, Windows...) »
As a photographer I seek to create clean and dynamic compositions with a minimalist essence.
Silhouettes, wide and strong shadows, chiaroscuro and using daylight, rather than artificial lights, to convey dramatic lighting are common elements in my photographs.
In some cases I like to make a parallelism between the compositions I do and Baroque painting in relation to aesthetics and style.
I can tell that I've been fascinated by Baroque painting for quite a long time and it has a big influence on my work.
This series is called Enigma since you don't know who the subjects are, how they look or what emotions were striking them when they were captured on these photographs since their faces don't show, given this, these photos let the viewer imagine more. As well, in the cases you get to see the subject's face you can't see what is behind them hiding on the shadows nor you can see where they came from or where they are heading.
A little detail I find interesting about this series is the fact that there are not visible eyes, which to me adds a lot to the series mysterious atmosphere.
