Every year on November 2, Mexico celebrates Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. Tradition dictates that family members who have passed on return for one day to spend time with the living. The holiday is marked by many beautiful traditions, centering around nighttime vigils at cemeteries throughout Mexico. Rather than focusing on the cemetery events, which are already well-documented, these photos were taken during a daytime street fair on Dia de los Muertos in Mexico City. My aim was to celebrate the joy and energy this event brings, as families reconnect not only with the departed, but also with those still living. My hope is that the series conveys the spirit of Dia de los Muertos, honouring love, human connection, and death as a natural and inextricable part of life.
