Honorable Mention in the category « Urban Speed / Movement »
Inspired by the work of Olga Karlovac and Alexey Titarenko and their use of motion blur, I started to experiment with long exposure time in an urban setting in my hometown Vienna.
The fascinating thing about motion blur is the fact that you never really know how this stylistic element will affect your photo and how it will portray people. The unpredictability of this kind of photography is incredible appeal to me.
In my forays through the city of Vienna, my aim was to give my subjects an atmospheric but not necessarily gloomy look and to choose fore- and backgrounds that show differences in contrast and colors. All this happens in a fraction of a second. The result are spontaneous abstract street portraits with a ghostly appearance created by slow shutter speeds.
I call my work "Urban Ghosts" and hope you enjoy my series!
