It's difficult to imagine now, but Hong Kong kept its mandatory mask-wearing policy in effect for nearly three years during COVID, until 1 March 2023. The city's Clockenflap music festival re-launched two days later, on 3 March. This series celebrates the return of faces (!) at a beloved Hong Kong music festival after the city's painful and extended COVID lockdown. What a pleasure it was for me to take these photos—I'm ever so grateful to everyone I encountered, who were happy to have their photo taken. It's as if we were celebrating music and mask-free faces together.
