Honorable Mention in the category « Street & Childrens »
While staying in the Vedado section of Havana, Cuba, I spotted this grade school so I set my alarm in early to get up early enough to watch the children arrive with their parents, say the Cuban Pledge of Allegiance and line-up to go into the schoolhouse. Of all the pictures I took of the ceremony this one stuck me the most because how intently this boy took his task of reporting those students that arrived late. To me, it mattered not how the little girl looked for at the moment is was all about the rather serious the young man looked at her.
At the moment I took this photograph, I realized all people of the world are in essence the same. Parents want their children to be educated and to grow-up in a world that is safe and full of oppportunities.
