Rice Pickers of Kerala - @benvenphoto
Kerala is a state that is situated at the southwestern corner of India on the Arabian Sea. Here the sea punctures the coast and courses inland, fracturing into a spider-like network of canals known as the Kerala Backwaters. These backwaters are in turn lined by rice paddies, and during the rice harvest, they shine a bright luminescent green, enhanced in the early morning or late afternoon sun. Outside my guesthouse one morning, I noticed a group of women who were harvesting rice, and they were aligned in a nearly perfect circle, which I just found so interesting.
