During my stay at the Texas Gulf Coast, I mostly took an early breakfast in one of these typical American diners. I love these classic, slightly outdated local breakfast restaurants, where you can expect an honest and reliable service for reasonable prices. Whether they are family-run or veteran-owned, you quickly feel like you belong. Such diners exude a particularly familial atmosphere and primarily live from their regular customers.
The Bakery Café in Aransas Pass is my favorite one in that area: During my stay at the Gulf Coast of Texas, I often took an early ferry and drove the TX 361 to Aransas Pass to take my breakfast in the Bakery Café. In Galveston (TX), I often went to "Mi Abuelitas", a Mexican diner on 45th Street, which has since closed after a car crashed into their place. I will miss this hospitable diner very much! Small side note: Every morning around 7:30 the local sheriff came in for breakfast.
Sometimes it’s a good tip to eat where the police have breakfast …
