Mention honorable dans la catégorie « Approche Moderne »
The photos in this series were created during a very intense and creatively brilliant time last year. They are made using very little to no photo manipulation and relying solely on my camera and the available light that often hits the concrete as spot lights. The result are very dramatic and deep shadows and very brilliant jewel like colours in the light areas that mimic a theatrical play on a stage. Here the scenes reminisce a retro Wong kar wai film from the nineties, yet are a very distinctly modern commentary of every day life in Hong Kong. For people who have been to Hong Kong or live here the scenes backgrounds are recognisably Hong Kongese, flanked by bamboo scaffolds, concrete skyscrapers, and very smart dressed people, who are glamorous and mysterious. I think this current style is often mimicked and copied, but I may have been the first one to popularise it in Hong Kong but what sets my photos apart is the sensibility to time and glamour. Thank you for your time and I wish you all good luck with your selections
