Engines of Life - @kellyconlinphotography
In Dhaka, the rickshaw is more than a means of transport—it is the heartbeat of the city, coursing through the streets like veins of life. These vehicles are both stage and backdrop: where strangers cross paths, where children transform them into playgrounds, and where the rhythms of the street come alive. Each rickshaw is a moving canvas, adorned with vivid colors, flowing patterns, and painted dreams. In 2023, UNESCO recognized Dhaka’s rickshaws as part of the city’s “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,” honoring their place in urban folk art. Between blur and pause, necessity and resilience, they carry not only passengers but the layered stories of communities always in motion.
