Circus Humberto is the largest and most famous circus in the Czech Republic. The documentation began in 2009, when I came to my hometown of Znojmo as an ordinary spectator, and continues. During that time, I have completed dozens of visits throughout the country and traveled thousands of kilometers. This topic is my fulfilled childhood dream, when I wanted to be a circus performer or a garbage collector. As a photographer, I have partially succeeded. The goal of my photographs is to capture circus art, a specific lifestyle and at the same time a tradition that is constantly changing and gradually disappearing in the traditional concept, whether it is the owners, artists, workers and of course the animals, in a way that the average viewer cannot see. In recent years, I have been most interested in the personality of the clown Russek with the stage name Mr. Chap. His photographs are mostly black and white, otherwise the theme of the circus is exclusively color photography. The goal of the project, in addition to capturing a specific life and its gradual changes, is to publish a book.
