100 Years of O'Connell Street - @deirdre_brennan_photographer
It has been 100 years since Dublin’s main thoroughfare was renamed in honour of Daniel O’Connell - The Liberator. The street has born witnessed to the 1916 rising, the Civil War, The War of Independence. The street has been the focal point for celebrations, commemorations and protest, emphasising its role in Dublin’s social and political life.
Additionally, it is where Element Pictures grew and produced the Oscar-winning movie "Poor Things".
In honour of the 100th anniversary of the street's name change from Sackville Street to O'Connell Street, I created a number of street portraits. Each person holds a gift for the street and gives their perspective on our main boulevard.
