This work was photographed with a prism filter that produces a halo effect mounted on the lens. It is not a multiple exposure or a post‑production effect; the image was created by leveraging a physical optical effect at the time of capture. While exploring an angle where the fluorescent lights on a subway escalator would form spiral rings through the filter’s effect, the figures of people were framed within a cocoon of light.
