This photo was taken in Paris and is part of my series Empty faces, which is an ongoing project about mannequins. It fascinates me how they are looking into the world, without expression. In their silent world they seem to want human contact. Their expressionless faces conceal the desires and emotions, as if they want to be seen in a world that passes by without a moment of acknowledgment. For me they represent the moments when it is hard to connect to life and other people, the moments of loneliness. It is about mental health.
