Through the fogged glass of a gym, a young man can be seen training. His figure is blurred, almost dissolved, but his silhouette and movements stand out clearly. The image suggests the gap between appearance and essence: how we are perceived from the outside without truly being known. Within each of us moves an inner world, perhaps still unexplored, perhaps invisible even to ourselves.
I took this photograph on an autumn evening, returning home after an afternoon with a friend. We were walking back to the car, and on the sidewalk we noticed this scene: the fogged glass of a gym, the silence that wrapped everything because it was almost dinner time. The boy’s movements, filtered through the glass, seemed poetic and out of time.
