I was photographing around the Kalk Bay area on a sunny afternoon, working on a black and white street portrait series. A group of strangers called over to me, “Come here, come see the King.”

I know very little about the man, but his prison tattoos, frail body, and proximity to Pollsmoor Prison suggest he may have been recently released.
